Times Higher Education (THE) has published today the results of 2021 World University Ranking, which they have been developing for more than twenty years to assess the quality of university institutions internationally. In this new edition of THE Ranking, CEU Universities reached sixth place among Spanish universities and rank among the top 500 universities worldwide. In the development of THE World University Ranking 2021, 1,527 university institutions from 93 countries participated.
The ranking data evaluates universities around the world by weighing the results of their activity in five areas: Teaching, Research, the number of Citations from their researchers’ publications, the Internationalization of staff, students and researchers, and the transfer of knowledge to the business field. In total, thirteen parameters are measured in these five areas, which come, among other sources, from more than 22,000 responses to academic reputation surveys. In research, THE Ranking analyses 13.6 million publications and more than 86 million citations over five years, based on Bible data from Elsevier.
In addition to the sixth position for its overall score in all areas between Spanish universities and its location between 401 to 500 internationally, CEU Universities also stand out for their results in specific areas of THE Ranking. In the research field, CEU Universities are at the top among Spanish universities for the quality of the citations obtained by scientific publications from their research staff.
In the field of internationalization of their staff, students and researchers, CEU Universities are fourth nationally in the ranking, with an average of international students of 19%, exceeding 30% in the case of the CEU UCH in the Valencian Community. CEU Universities are also among the top ten Spanish universities in dimensions such as the student-per-teacher ratio (11.5) or the proportion of women and men among their students (63:37).
The publication of this study represents a new backing for Gasma and the CEU University – Cardenal Herrera, whose Degree in Gastronomy has recently been as the best valued in Spain as a teacher by the U-Ranking of Degrees produced by the BBVA Foundation.
The CEU Universities -CEU San Pablo (Madrid), CEU Cardenal Herrera (Valencia, Elche and Castellón) and Abat Oliba CEU (Barcelona) – belong to the San Pablo CEU University Foundation, the largest private educational institution in Spain, of which other centres are also part at all levels of education, from children’s education to postgraduate training.
